Prodigals is a conversation over coffee between a brother and a sister where each week we talk about how our experiences have shaped our perspectives on pop culture, ministry, relationships, and pretty much anything else we come up with. We’ve been called prodigals and maybe we are in some ways, but we wouldn’t change a thing.
Well if you look prodigal up you'll find pretty quickly that it means something along the lines of "extravagantly wasteful." When we use it, what we want to convey is that throughout our lives we've chosen paths that to others seemed to be wasteful...whether that was going into full time ministry or going on a long-term mission trip. At the same time, both of us have certainly made wasteful choices with time, money, and anything else you can throw away.
We chose Prodigals because of the double meaning and how we have positively and negatively "wasted our lives." We're sure this is something a lot of people resonate with.
Oh. The trash can? Well considering prodigals are wasteful we thought the idea of thawing stuff away was best imaged in a garbage can. One that closely resembles what my (Nic) surrounding woodland creatures frequently get into and destroy.
